Culmer's Seaside Cottage is a nice simple, clean, comfortable, and affordable cottage on the water in the quiet and charming
little village of South Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, Bahamas. The photos speak for themselves, but to briefly elaborate, there
are beautiful sandy beaches just steps away from the door of this 3 room cottage, which features a full bathroom, a fully
equipped kitchen, and a large dining/living/sleeping room (with 2 double beds and 1 single). No phone but there is a TV with
cable, and within a very short stroll, there is a small general store (with auto rentals), and a library with WiFi internet
access. There are several good restaurants in the general Palmetto Point area, the nearest being the very popular "Mate
& Jenney's" which is about half a mile from the cottage. Just slightly further up the road is another big plus; The
Eleuthera Island Farm & Nursery sells a full range of fresh vegetables and a medley of great wholegrain breads.
Note that this is not a solar powered cottage, but having stayed in it for a month last winter and it being one of the
more affordable rentals for a waterfront place on Eleuthera, we thought we should make this one exception to listing only
solar dwellings on our website and thus share this information with others who might want an escape from a cold northern winter.
There are cheap flights from the US to Nassau and from Nassau there is either a fast ferry (2 hours) or small plane (20 minutes)
ride to Governor's Harbor, Eleuthera, which is about 5 miles from Palmetto Point.
We were the first trial renters at Culmer's cottage, and the Culmers now intend to continue offering the cottage for rent
on a weekly or monthly basis. Depending upon the duration of stay, the current rate is reported to be $50 to $60 per night.
